IG, the UK's leading spread betting and CFDs provider, has been named one of 'Britain's Most Admired Companies' in Management Today's 2012 awards.

IG was awarded silver in the 'Specialty & other finance' category.

Chief executive of IG, Tim Howkins, said: "I'm pleased that we have been recognised as one of Britain's Most Admired Companies by our peers this year; it's one of the UK's most prestigious corporate award schemes. Now in its 22^nd year, the awards are based on rankings provided by board-level representatives at 200 companies across 26 sectors, and analysts at leading City investment companies. They are asked to rank their peers by giving each other marks out of ten across nine criteria, including financial soundness, capacity to innovate and quality of goods and services.

Among the other companies ranking highly this year were Diageo, HSBC and Unilever.
