LONDON,July 16, 2012/PRNewswire/ -- Oppenheimer Europe Ltd., a subsidiary of Oppenheimer Holdings (NYSE: OPY), is pleased to announce that the firm has opened a new branch on the Isle of Jersey at 43 Hillgrove Street in the parish of St. Helier as part of its London Fixed Income business. "Our presence in theChannel Islandswill serve as a platform to support middle- market institutional clients acrossEuropeas well as other sophisticated investors who seek the value-added services we have successfully provided in the U.S.," stated Robert S. Lowenthal, Senior Managing Director - Head of Global Fixed Income Sales and Trading. Paul Tanner, a Managing Director based inLondon, established the Fixed Income Sales and Trading Desk in December of 2008. Paul has selected three individuals to staff the new branch: Simon A. Bakewell, as Managing Director - Institutional Fixed Income, joins Oppenheimer from Bridport & Co. (Jersey) Limited, where he traded in the full spectrum of fixed income securities and equities, and rose to a position of responsibility in fixed income sales & trading and research. "After working at a small boutique, I wanted to be part of a global firm," Simon Bakewell says.
