The first undertaking* of this new collaboration will be the development of a new treatment protocol for trans-arterial embolization - a process demonstrated to reduce the size or rate of growth of tumors. This is done by blocking the blood supply to a tumor (embolization) using an embolic material (in this case, beads). The aim of this protocol is to standardize and optimize the current approach to treatment delivery, thereby ensuring the best possible patient outcome. The trend towards such minimally invasive treatments continues to grow in interventional oncology.
