th On 16January 2009, during the Israeli incursion into theGaza Strip, Izzeldin Abuelaish witnessed the death of his three daughters by shell fire. His response to this tragedy, broadcast live on Israeli TV moments after the attack, won him humanitarian awards around the world including a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. Instead of seeking revenge or sinking into hatred, Izzeldin Abuelaish called for the people in the region to start talking to each other. Abuelaish is an inspirational speaker, a tireless peace campaigner and an advocate of women's rights in theMiddle East. ALondonUniversity and Harvard-trained Palestinian doctor who was born and raised in the Jabalia refugee camp in theGaza Stripand 'who has devoted his life to medicine and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians' (New York Times), Abuelaish is an infertility specialist who lived inGazabut worked in Israel.
