UBM Istanbul is planning to organise an incomparable trade show in Turkey in private security service sector. Non-governmental organisations in the sector such as TOBB, GÜSOD, GESİDER, ASIS and Private Security Federation are all supporting the show which will be held at Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre between 30th September - 2nd October 2013. UBM Istanbul, founded by UBM; the second largest event and exhibition company in the world, active in 40 countries with 160 branches, to serve the requirements of Turkey and region's markets, is organising IFSEC Istanbul, which is aiming to become the benchmark show in private security services sector. IFSEC, which will be held for the 40th year in UBM's flagship branch in Birmingham, attracts more than 25.000 visitors worldwide. In his opening statement, the General Manager of UBM Istanbul, Mr. Kerim Bertrand stated the reasons behind organising the show in Turkey.

UBM Istanbul is planning to organise an incomparable trade show in Turkey in private security service sector. Non-governmental organisations in the sector such as TOBB, GÜSOD, GESİDER, ASIS and Private Security Federation are all supporting the show which will be held at Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre between 30th September -2nd October 2013.

In his opening statement, the General Manager of UB M Istanbul, Mr.Kerim Bertrand stated the reasons behind organising the show in Turkey.Mr Bertrand, underlined that IFSEC is one of the most important and established events on Security in the world and added;"Like in any country, the assets that need protection increase when wealth and welfare improves in a developing country. Together with the welfare level, the requirement for energy, production facilities and housing standards also increase. Protection of such assets is not only possible with the help of public security institutions such as the police and the military. In fast developing economies such as Turkey, these assets and properties also require protection from private security firms (both in terms of hardware, equipment and also in terms of security staff). The economic success story of Turkey reveals the needs for equipment, training and regulations in the Private Security sector." Kerim Bertrand also stated that UBM Istanbul will aim to introduce the Turkish companies in the security sector to new markets, provide solutions for the sector's requirements and improve the private security sector in Turkey by focusing on such opportunities.
Turkey is the leader in Europe with the number of staff employed in the sector
The Spokesman for Turkish Union of Chambers and Com modity Exchanges, Private Security Sector Council M r. Hasan Gazi Özer gave a speech after Mr. Bertrand and indicated that the Security industry, with approximately 350.000 staff employed,is the leader in Europe in terms of number of staff employed in the private security sector. Mr. Özer finished his speech by stating that the IFSEC Istanbul trade show that will be held next year will play an important role in promoting and introducing local security firms and electronic security system manufacturers to global markets.
We are basing our approach on the Coordination and Collaboration between the Public / Private Security Sectors in European Countries
After Hasan Gazi Özer, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ÖGF and GÜSOD Mr. Gave a speech. Mr. Ünver started his speech by giving brief information on G ESİDER (Security Industry Traders and Businessmen Association), GÜSOD (Security Services Organisation Union) and ÖGF (Private Security Federation). Mr. Oryal Ünver who pointed out to the active role GÜSOD is playing in legislating the "Law for Private Security Services", also indicated that GESİDER is the vision holder of the sector through domestic and international technology transfers, common studies and other activities and events it organises. Ünver, who also addressed the activities performed for restructuring the Private Security Sector added, "During the European Union membership process as per the national policies of our country, we have to follow the developments and improvements in the European Private Security Sector and have to base our approach and works on the coordination and collaboration between the Public / Private Security Sectors in European countries. Therefore, we have to align our laws and regulations regarding professional training, professional opportunities and standards with European countries." Mr. Oryal Ünver, who emphasized that the final and utmost target is "Common European Private Security Sector", finished his speech by indicating that IFSEC Istanbul will be the benchmark organisation in the sector.
The Sector expanded 20% in 2011
The fourth speaker was GESİDER's Member of the Board, Mr. Bülent Çobanoğlu, who also gave a brief summ ary of the activities of the Association. Mr. Çobanoğlu emphasized the GESIDER is the only non-governmental organisation in Turkey, representing 60% of the electronic security sector inTurkey and stated the important role the association plays in informing and training the manufacturer and vender firms, as well as the end users in Turkey about international standards and application rules. Bülent Çobanoğlu highlighted that the electronic security sector in Turkeygrew 20% in the year 2011, and became a market worth$600 million.Çobanoğlu finished his speech by stating that he believes IFSEC Istanbul Convention will have a positive effect on the sector and help increase the international market share and activities of local security firms.
The final speaker of the meeting; the Assistant Chairman of ASIS International,Turkey Branch, Mr. Kürşad Sak began his speech by mentioning the training program s, conferences and exhibitions held in order to improve the sector and increase the productivity and efficiency within the sector. Mr. Sak, who also emphasized that ASIS International has been acting as the event partner in IFSEC Birmingham exhibitions, stated that he is very hopeful about such event to be organised in Turkey.
