ASCA Seeks Member Input for Its Response on ACOs
ASCA has begun drafting a written response to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’
(CMS) proposal for Medicare’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program slated to begin
operation next year. To help with the response, we are seeking input from our members. In particular,
we would like to hear your answers to the following questions on CMS’ proposal available
here
.
1.
Will ACOs be positive, negative or neutral for ASCs?
2.
Have other providers approached you about forming an ACO?
3.
Are you considering reaching out to other providers to form an ACO?
4.
As ASCA prepares its comments on the proposed ACO rule, what should we be considering?
Please send your feedback to Jonathan Beal at
jbeal@ascassociation.org.
FDA Looks to Make Reusable Medical Devices Safer
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued draft revisions to its guidelines on the
design and cleaning of reusable medical devices. The guidelines are aimed at device manufacturers
and, according to the FDA, will “provide greater clarity on how to scientifically validate the
reprocessing instructions that are part of the device labeling.” The FDA will host a public workshop
to seek input from stakeholders, including health care providers, on June 8–9, 2011. More
information is available from the
FDA
