Description
An emergency excavation aimed at finding the vestiges of Saint-Felix's mediaeval church, brought to light, in the western part of the ancient town, occupation layers of the Roman period, ranging from the Ist century B.C. to the beginning of the III century A. D. The process of Romanisation begins with the import of ceramics from Italy, but develops rather slowly in the field of construction. In the middle of the Ist century A.D., the marks of deeper acculturation appear in the fine murals of the 4th style and graffitos showing the use of Latin in the lower classes of society.
