Long Synopsis We track in and then around what appears to be Man Rays classic surrealist image featuring his muse Kiki.Beautiful shapes and silhouettes - including an ancient Greek gymnopédiste - dance serenely in the background.For just a moment before metamorphosis, ourvioloncellecomes to life to sing us a poem set to Saties hauntingGymnopédie No.1. “Le Violoncelle”is a single-shot micro-voyage into the creative milieux of Man Ray, Erik Satie & Kiki de Montparnasse, and from the beginnings of photographic manipulation to the present era of digital duplicity. Festivals & Distribution Le Violoncellereceived its Australian première at the Art Gallery of NSW, 31 March – 4 April 2004, screening with works by Pabst and Polanski in the Man Ray surrealist exhibition.Subsequent screenings include:-2004: Montréal Festival des Films du Monde (Canada), Recontres Internationales du Cinéma des Antipodes (St.Tropez, France), Thai Short Film Festival (Bangkok), Australian Embassy (Paris).
