Dorothy Malone's Oscar Award
TV’s Peyton Place actress Dorothy Malone was born Dorothy Eloise Maloney on January 30, 1925, in Chicago. She attended dancing classes from the age of three and successive won several high school acting competitions. Originally a brunette, she made her debut in 1942 in The Man Who Wouldn’t Die. She turned blonde for the Warner Bros. film Young at Heart (1954) and remained that way for the recreation of her job. She won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her role in Written on the Wind (1956), playing Marylee Headly who is hopelessly in love with Rock Hudson. Among her other films: The Huge Sleep (1946), The Killer That Stalked Present York (1949), Scared Stiff (1953), Pushover (1954), The Fast and the Furious, (1955), Pillars in the Sky (1956), Tip on a Dead Jockey, The Tarnished Angels (both 1957), Too Much, Too Soon (1958), Warlock (1959) and The Last Tour (1960).
