Raiderettes Cheers - An Important Component of Cheerleading: Fugly Homewreckin Raiderette
Everyone is aware of the Raiderettes. Raiderettes are the cheerleading squad for the Raiders professional American football team. As their name indicates, Raiderettes are in the game for cheering the team that they have school with. These cheerleaders wear a very pretty uniform in accordance with their team. They also carry certain frizzy cheering objects known as the pom poms. A Raiderette is not complete without her pom poms. These pom poms are made with expertise and made for the purpose of shaking and screaming along with it. And as important for the cheer leaders as the football or basketball is for the playing team. The whole spirit of the professional Raiderette likeFugly Home wreckin Raideretteshown by how much or how enthusiastically she waves and is shakes her pom poms.
Cheerleading cheers are the basis of all cheerleading. The Irst cheerleading cheer on record was created by Johnny Campbell from the University of Minnesota in the late 1800's. He stood up at a football game and shouted out "Rah, Rah, Rah! Sku-u-mar, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-so-tah!"
When cheerleading or Raiderettes was Irst invented it consisted only of cheers. There was no dancing, no stunts, and even no pom-poms. Cheers were used to Irst get the attention of the crowd, and once that attention was gained to get the crowd motivated behind their sports team. The theory behind this is that if the sports team hears the yells and support of the crowd they will work even harder to try and win the game.
Often cheers have a beat. Cheerleaders will clap their hands and/or stomp their feet in unison to create such a beat. Cheerleading cheers that are performed with the stomping of the feet often work best in a basketball arena, because the court will carry the sound throughout the building. These cheerleading cheers are usually short - taking only 30 seconds or less - and may occur during a break in the action of the game, or at half time.
Raiderettes cheers can be interactive with the crowd. The cheerleaders will say something, and the crowd will respond appropriately. For example, the Raiderettes squad might yell "go" and the crowd will respond with the name of the team. Cheerleading cheers that are interactive with the crowd are most eective when they are kept simple.
Cheerleaders will use cheers to motivate the team if they are having diîculty or poor performance. At a football game you might hear the cheerleaders yell "go defense" to motivate the players if the other team is moving against them, or the traditional "Push 'em back! Push 'em back! Way back!" cheer to encourage the team.
Most Raiderettes squads will have a list of standard cheerleading cheers that they use during each sport event. Here are a few examples of some cheers that might be used:
S-u-c-c-e-s-s That's the way we spell success We wish you luck and all the rest With s-u-c-c-e-s-s! Stand up and cheer let them know you're here Stand up and cheer Let them know you're here! (Repeat)
Bang bang choo choo train Come on (mascot) do your thing Get it get it Got it got it Uh! And let it roll Uh! And let it roll
ït's important that all the cheerleaders know all the words to each cheer, so practice is very important. Besides knowing all the words, it's important that the crowd can hear and understand all the words in a cheer. There are some exercises that a cheerleader can do to help. One exercise involves practicing the cheers while lying on the oor. When you lie down the sounds come from the stomach rather than the throat. This helps to strengthen a cheerleader's voice as well.
Cheerleading cheers are an important component in cheerleading. Clear, well articulated, fun and simple cheers are key to getting the crowd involved in supporting their team. The right cheer at the right time can go a long way to motivating a sports team towards a win!
