In the 1950s the United States began to send troops to Vietnam to help south Vietnam to free themselves from communism.During 25 years 3 million US men and women were sent thousands of miles away to fight ; 2,5 million people on both sides were killed.The war finished in 1975. I n N o v e m b e r 1964 ,Presidentof south Vietnam Diem was executed.The following y e a r , t h e no r t h Vietnamese began massive war to conquer the south of Vietnam aided mainly by China and ,Russia. The Vietminh troops used booby traps. Traps could be made of anythingfrom explosives to pits hidden with sharpz,bamboo sticks.It was a risky business and people were often killed trying to handle the explosives.
