The Fall/Winter 09-10 academic session marks the 26 t h year of operation of our department. Glendon College is a Liberal Arts College and therefore places emphasis on a general education, the humanities and the social sciences. The mathematics program of our department complements the range of studies offered by the College because: i) Mathematics is an essential component of a general education and it will become even more so in the future, ii) Mathematics is an important methodological tool used in all of the social sciences (economics, political science, psychology, sociology, etc.) as well as in the humanities, iii) Mathematicsis one of the liberal arts in the full sense of the term which is studied for its own sake and its merits outshine its almost unlimited applications in the real world. This document is the mini-calendar of the Mathematics Department. It intends to describe in full details the courses to be offered in 2009-2010 as well as the degree requirements for the various existing programs in mathematics.
