Congratulations to Allison Rixey, ballet performance junior from Leawood, Kansas, for winning the Helene C. Lottinville Prize in the Fine Arts. This prize is given by the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts to encourage pursuit of a student’s chosen art form for its lifetime rewards and to match the performance of those who have gone before. To be eligible for this prize, students must be a junior and have a GPA of at least 3.8.

Summer 2010 Former Ballet Russe Dancer Howard Sayette Vists School of Dance The Susan E. Brackett Distinguished Visiting Artist Chair for Spring 2010 was former Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo dancer Howard Sayette. While at OU, Sayette re-staged Bronislava Nijinska’s balletLes Bichesfor Oklahoma Festival Ballet. Sayette saw his very first ballet as an usher in a Los Angeles theater and was entranced by it. He immediately went to the library and read as much as he could about ballet. After professional training, Sayette enjoyed a distinguished career as a performer with the Ballet Russe, working with such choreographers as George Balanchine, Leonide Massine and Michel Fokine.
Members of the Ballets Russes and their families gathered in Norman April 9 through 11 for a weekend of celebrating the artistic legacy of the noted companies that have borne the Ballets Russes name. Friday began with coffee and tours of the Reynolds Performing Arts Center as well as a book signing by Jack Anderson,
