Résumé Notre recherche, portée sur un échantillon de 48 entreprises Françaises introduites en bourse sur la période 2000-2005, étudie lévolution des performances pendant la période qui suit  lopération de louverture du capital au public. Les résultats mettent en évidence un déclin significatif des performances à long terme après introduction en bourse. Cette évolution observée des performances, est attribuée à un effet timing. Mots clés : introductions en bourse, performance opérationnelle, sous - performance, timing Abstract The study investigates the change in performance of French public firms post to their Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). Tests are conducted on a sample of 48 French companies placed on the stock market over the period 2000-2005. A significant decline in long-term operating performance subsequent to the Initial Public Offering is found.
