26th Annual Byzantine Studies Conference (Harvard University, 26-29 October,

2000).

Antioch (combined with AIEMA meeting) (Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts

18-19 November, 2000).

A major exhibition on Antioch, organized by Christine Kondoleon at the Worcester

Art Museum (Massachusetts), will run from October 7, 2000 through February 4,

2001.

Helen Evans reports that vastly expanded new Byzantine galleries will be opened

at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in November 2000. In the spring of 2004, she

will curate a Byzantine exhibition at the Museum that will cover the last centuries

of the empire from the Latin Conquest through the coining of the name Byzantium

for the state in the mid-sixteenth century. She hopes eventually to organize an

exhibition on the myth of Byzantium during the subsequent centuries.
