Madame, Monsieur, Cher lecteur, Depuis 2006, le Gouvernement Princier a choisi de donner au Département des Relations Extérieures une dimension structurée qui s'inscrit dans la logique du développement des relations diplomatiques et consulaires de la Principauté : trois Directions ont été créées au sein de ce Département et sont aujourd'hui au service de la diplomatie monégasque. Elles sont dirigées par MMmes Anne-Marie ANCIAN et Marina CEYS- SAC pour les Affaires Internationales et les Relations Diplomatiques et Consulaires, alors que M. Frédéric PLATINI est en charge de la Direction de la Coopération Internationale. En quelques mois, dix-huit Ambassadeurs étran- gers ont été accrédités auprès de la Principauté. Dans le même temps, les choix de S.A.S. le Prince Souverain se portaient sur l'ouverture de l'Ambassade de Monaco à Washington (confiée à S.E. M. Gilles NOGHES), la nomination d'un Ambassadeur non résident de Monaco en Chine (S.E. M. Rainier IMPERTI) et l'ouverture de la Maison de Monaco à Londres (placée sous la responsabilité de Mme Evelyne GENTA, Consul Général). En parallèle, des consulats de Monaco ont été ouverts en Slovénie, au Burkina Faso, en Jamaïque, en Mauritanie, en Bulgarie, à Maurice et en Russie. La mission de ses représentations diplomatiques et consulaires de par le monde est de fournir notamment un soutien et un point de contact essentiel à tous les acteurs de la vie monégasque, institutionnels ou privés, qui souhaitent s'ouvrir ou développer une activité internationale. La Principauté attache par ailleurs une grande importance à promouvoir les initiatives tendant à rapprocher les Nations, notamment en matière d'environnement. Comme un symbole, le Forum Mondial du PNUE (Programme des Nations Unies pour l'Environnement) se déroulera ainsi en Principauté du 20 au 22 février 2008. Au moment de l'impression de cette lettre d'in- formation a été nommé un nouveau Conseiller de Gouvernement pour les Relations Extérieures : S.E. M. Jean PASTORELLI. Nous reviendrons sur cette nomination dans la prochaine édition.

Dear reader, Since 2006, the Princely Government has cho- sen to give the Department of External Relations a new structure as part of the logical development of the diplomatic and consular relationships of the Principality: three Services have been created within this Department and are today serving Monegasque diplomacy. They are managed by Anne-Marie ANCIAN and Marina CEYSSAC for International Affairs and Diplomatic and Consular Relations, while Frédéric PLATINI is responsible for the Department of International Cooperation. In several months, eighteen foreign ambassa- dors have been accredited to the Principality. At the same time, HSH the Crown Prince's choices were made for the opening of the Monaco Embassy in Washington (entrusted to H.E Mr Gilles NOGHES), the appointment of a non resident Ambassador in China (H.E Mr Rainier IMPERTI) and the opening of Monaco House in London (under the responsibility of Mrs Evelyne GENTA, General Consul). In par- allel, Monaco consulates have been opened in Slovenia, Burkina Faso, Jamaica, Mauritania, Bulgaria, Mauritius and Russia. The main aim of these diplomatic and con- sular representations throughout the world is to provide essential support and a point of contact to all those involved in Monegasque life, institutions or private individuals, who wish to open or develop an international business. In addition, the Principality attaches great importance to the promotion of initiatives aim- ing to bring Nations closer together, in partic- ular with regards the environment. As a sym- bol of this, the World Forum of UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) will take place in the Principality from 20th to 22nd February 2008. As this newsletter goes to print, a new Government Consellor for External Relations has been appointed: H.E. Mr Jean PASTOREL- LI. Further info on this appointment in the next edition.
