Whitefriars Infant SchoolWhere does our food come
from?
• In our school we use a thematic approach to the
curriliculum.
• In Year One the theme in the Spring term is called
‘Where does our food come from?’ The work is based on
the ffollllowing key questtiions.
• Can I say where some food comes from?
• Can I say what foods will help me to stay healthy?
• Do I understand what plants need to grow?
• Can I understand some of the characteristics of living
thinggs?
• Can I name and label different parts of plants?
• Can I explain the life cycle of plants?‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ covers many of the issues
around hhealthyealthy eating andand growing ffoodood asas the
‘blurb’ below reveals.

won't eat anything else - until he plays a
game wwithith his grandpa.Whatever
vegetable Oliver finds in the garden, he
must eat. On Monday, he pullspulls upup carrots,
