This pattern is crocheted in the round and washed in hodge podge to create a simply beautiful decoration for the holiday season.
Materials: 2mm Hook, 2ply lace weight
Abbreviations:
ch = chain yo = yarn over hook sc = single crochet tr = treble (or triple) crochet sl = slip st = stitch cl = cluster fp = front post
Special Instructions for "tr cl in fp":
Wrap yarn over hook 2 times, Insert the hook from the front to the back on the right side of the first tr(or ch4), then bring it to the front on the left side of the same stitch. Draw the yo through the post. NOW: yo pull through first 2 loops, yo, pull through next 2 loops, leaving 2 loops on the hook. One down, 4 to go!Work in the same manner for the next 4 trs, resulting in 5 loops left on hook. Yo and pull through all loops. VOILA! Treble Cluster in front post complete. PATTERN Foundation Row: ch 6, sl st into first ch to join into loop, ch 1. sc into loop 12x, sl st into first sc, ch 1.
Row 1: sc into same st as sl st, ch3, *skip one stitch and sc into next stitch, ch 3.* Repeat between *'s 4 more times, then sl st into first sc, ch1.
Row 2: sc into same st, 2 scs into ch space, *sc into sc (from previous row), 2scs into ch space* repeat 4 times, sl st into first sc, ch1.
Row 3: sc into same st, ch 7, skip one st, *sc into next st, ch7, 3tr into 4th ch from hook (last 4ch of 7ch = first tr), ch4 (last tr), sl st into base of trs. ch3, skip one st and sc into next st.* Repeat between *'s 5 times up to first sc of round, sl st into first sc.
Row 4: sl st into first 3 ch, *sc into 4th ch of space, ch12, tr cl into fp of each tr (see Special Instructions), ch12.* Repeat between *'s 5 times and sl st into first sc.
Row 5: ch8, slst into 5th ch from hook (picot) ch8, sl st into 5th ch from hook (2nd picot), ch12, sl st into bottom of 2nd picot, ch5, sl st into bottom of 2nd picot, sl st into next 3 chs, ch 5, sl st into bottom of 1st picot, sl st into next 3 chs and into every stich on ch12 and sl st into top of tr cl.
ch12, sl st into top of tr cl, ch 20, sl st into top of cluster, sl st into top of cluster and in every ch in next space to sc.
Repeat this row 5 times and then sl st into first st and bind off!
Finishing: Weave in your ends. To make the hodge podge bath, mix 2 parts white glue with one part water in a small bowl. Dip your snowflake in the bath, being sure to coat everything.Gently squeeze the excess glue out of the strands and block on a piece of foam to dry.You may want to put a layer of wax paper between the foam board and snowflake when you block it to prevent the snowflake from sticking to your block.
