TO:  Heather Marlowe and Lands Committee FROM:  Karleen Grummett, 4195 Lake Shore Drive DATE:  November 9, 2007 SUBJECT:  Auke Lake Motorized Activity Report As a resident of a home on Auke Lake, I decided to document motorized activity on the lake from the first sign of it in May until the last in September. I am retired and write, so I spend much of my time overlooking the lake from my spot at the computer. Though this is far from “scientific,” it is, nevertheless, evidence from a first‑hand point of view that might be useful in your deliberations. I also document non‑motorized activity, weather and wildlife as well, but that information isn’t included here. The jet ski and water ski activity never lasted much more than an hour at a stretch. One water skier is a habitual/dedicated user of Auke Lake no matter the weather. He was the first on the lake in May and the last to leave it in September. Other notes: I didn’t record all floatplane landings and takeoffs that I observed. Also, if a date isn’t recorded, it’s because no motorized activity occurred on that day. The little “w” signifies a weekend day. May 2007 May 8  Motorized activity begins with the first floatplane of the season. May 8‑13  A yellow floatplane practices touch and goes every day during this time and is the only motorized activity.  May 11 Canada geese and trumpeter swans return on their way north. May 15  First water skier 5:30p.m., two floatplanes take off 1:30 & 3:30p.m ...
