This marked a distinct change from the AND SERVICES data reported throughout 2000, when construction output grew in every quarter - using this measure. Construction activity within the euro-zone1 also fell, losing 2.7% to the first quarter of 2001, after having posted growth of THEME 4 - 30/2001 1.5% to the final quarter of 2000. A breakdown of construction activity shows that all of the losses experienced Contents in the EU construction sector could be attributed to a decline in building activity, which was down 2.8% in the first quarter of 2001 (compared to the Latest construction trends 1 first quarter of 2000).
