LPROMS is a product of PROLOGUE S.A. The integration of Developing Countries in the multilateral commercial system implies
a sound knowledge of markets, assisted by the availability of statistics concerning
foreign exchanges.
The carrying out of consistent and effective actions to promote exchanges between
Developing Countries and the EC on the one hand, and the foreseen measures
favourable to the development of intra-regional trade in Developing Countries on the
other hand imply promoting the creation of a normalized means of gathering statistical
information as an immediate sub-product of customs formality. This need is manifested
by a specific reference, from the 4th Lomé Convention, to the assistance for information
systems, including statistics.
In this context, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, has
developed, with the help of General Direction of Development (DG VIII), the EURO-
TRACE software which you have chosen as a tool for the management of Foreign Trade
Data.
Beside its interest in the elaboration of national statistics, the regional and international
dimension foreshadows the setting up of integrated information systems which favour
the exchange of computerized data. EUROTRACE also creates this standardized and
normalized interface which is used as a means of collecting regional and international
data.
The maintenance of EUROTRACE is undertaken by Eurostat in collaboration with the
CESD-Communautaire.
