INVESTIGATIVE REPORT WRITING
December 9-10, 2010
This program will provide training in the composing and writing investigative reports. It will provide a review of specifics which the
report should contain.. Topics include: (1) being able to identify the essential elements of an investigative report to include the Who,
What, When, Where, Why and How of an incident under investigation; (2) formatting an investigative report so that it reads in a clear,
coherent manner and is free from inconsistencies or contradictions; (3) recognizing the appropriate resources available to produce a
professional looking and readable report; (4) properly cross-referencing the investigative report to related statements by interested
parties and/or evidence; (5) self-editing reports prior to supervisory review; (6) supporting documents needed to clarify or amplify
individual points or statements presented in the investigative report.

MANAGING THE UNIFORMED PATROL UNIT
December 13-14, 2010
This two-day seminar will provide new patrol managers with guidelines on how to effectively manage the operations of their unit as
well as offer current up-dates for experienced patrol managers looking to fine tune their patrol management skills. Topics covered will
include: (1) basics of structuring a law enforcement agency; (2) general patrol operations; (3) operations functions vs. staff functions;
(4) patrol unit organization and management; (5) workload analysis; (6) span of management & delegation (authority/responsibility);
(7) patrol goals and objectives; (8) patrol methodology; (9) staffing and deployment; (10) importance of directed patrol; and. (11)
patrol function as related to traffic law enforcement.

LOCATION/TIME
: Programs will be conducted at the Public Safety Education and Training Center, 6852 4th Street in Sykesville,
Maryland. Classes will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

$295 per person, per program.

Enroll two agency personnel at the standard $295 per person fee and the third person is enrolled at half-price ($147.50)
Enroll three agency personnel at the standard $295 per person fee and the fourth person is enrolled free of cost
