Time is flying by – but thankfully we have a large number of people in the Chapter working to help out.
From those spending a couple of hours every few weeks, to those running programs, to those holding
officer roles – all of this time is for your benefit.
One of the benefits you’re receiving this Chapter year (through May) is continuing to have a significant
number of CPEs available to you – more than 100 of them!
Your Chapter Board has repeatedly found a way to slash the cost of attendance to members!
As an
example, the recent Tech Conference was less than $11 per CPE.
Implementing Cvent – our newest registration tool – has made registering a snap.
And the survey after
each session will provide the feedback needed to help the Chapter to continue the quality programs you
want!
Our newest peek at a Chapter volunteer focuses on Sandi Trzcinski.
Sandi works in OSC Financial
Reporting.
She had worked at two local CPA firms from 1996 - 2006, has her CGAP, and is working on her
CGFM.
Sandi’s been our Treasurer since 2006.
For the past three years, she’s also been the Treasurer of
the Latham Woman's League, and is always available to lend a helping hand.
It must run in the family:
her sister Suzi was the AGA Treasurer from 2006 – 2008.
Sandi is responsible for the books, the banking, and the payables and receivables for the Chapter.
She
works with other professional organizations to collect and disburse revenues.
Many people might be
intimidated being the Treasurer for a room full of auditors, but not Sandi.
She handles the role with grace
and confidence.
Thank you Sandi, for all your hard work!
Again, if you’d like to volunteer some time, let Sandi (or me, at
mrubin@nyiso.com
– or any of the Board
members – just check the website) know.
We’d love to have your help.
Marc

This semester, the Academic Relations Committee (ARC) attended a career fair at Schenectady County
Community College and a Business Professionals Panel at UAlbany. Both events were successful, and we
look forward to reaching a larger audience during the spring semester.
The ARC is always looking for new members – even if you can’t make every event, we’d love to have you
join us. If you are an alumnus of a local college, attending an event could be beneficial for both you and
the students. Not only will you be assisting future alumni by sharing the knowledge you have gained
through your experiences working in the world of internal audit, you will provide these students with a
valuable resource for career planning.
Our presentations include information on the IIA, internal auditing as a profession, and the benefits of
becoming an internal auditor. Many students in undergraduate and graduate programs are looking at
different ways to expand their accounting and auditing knowledge, and our program has been able to
inform students of the different types of jobs, certifications, and trainings offered by the IIA.
If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Kristina Massaconi at

The Chapter Achievement Program is designed to recognize activities
that promote the strategic objectives of The IIA. This program
provides minimum standards of performance for providing service to
our Chapter members, providing service to the internal auditing
profession and for administering the activities of the Chapter.
The
Program emphasizes the basic mission of the Chapter, encourages
Chapters to perform that mission, and provides Chapters with a means
to evaluate their success in accomplishing that mission.
