When the Weatherman Says 'Break Out Your Sunglasses'
Most of us in the sunglasses industry find it hard to get excited about the weather during the winter months. So by the end of February or the beginning of March, we long to hear the weatherman step up and say, "get ready to break out your sunglasses tomorrow." Statements like that are music to our ears.
Unless you live in a warm weather climate that actually encourages people to get outdoors during the winter months, you probably spend most of your time from late December through mid-March cooped up indoors. Like everybody else, you are dying to get out to the beach, ride your bike, or just go strolling through the park as you bask in the warm sunshine of spring. Just be sure you have a new pair of sunglasses ready to go.
As you know, we sell wholesale sunglasses in bulk. We are prepared for spring witha full inventory of designer sunglassesthat your customers are going to love. So while you are thinking of your own eyewear for spring and summer, think about the people you sell to as well. Take some time to browse our inventory to see what we have in stock for spring.
Spring Is Cleanup Time
A good eyewear retailer is always looking for new angles to promote the wholesale sunglasses we sell in bulk. The mind automatically defaults to images of summer leisure activities ranging from golf to swimming. But before summer comes spring. And guess what? Spring is cleanup time.
Spring cleaning is a great reason to promote a sale on the latest sunglasses. After all, some of that spring cleaning will involve getting outside to work in the yard. There is grass to cut, flowerbeds to weed, windows to wash, fences to mend, etc. Your customers are going to need a good, solid pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes while working outdoors.
It is a good idea to push the concept of cheap sunglasses for spring. The sunglasses your customers will buy for outdoor work will not be the more expensive designer pairs they would be afraid of breaking. Instead, they are going to want something that is easy on the wallet yet still functional. This is an open door for you. This is a good time for a BOGO sale or a package promotion combining adult andchildren sunglassestogether.
Getting Ready for Summer Leisure
Of course, we can't deny the fact that people are getting ready for summer leisure even while they are busily engaged in spring cleaning. In fact, a lot of your customers probably have their summer vacation plans already in place. So quickly follow up your spring promotions with events geared toward summer leisure.
One of our favorite ideas is to pair sunglasses with something else, like a hat for example. Another good idea for summer sales is to put together value boxes. An example of a value box might include sunglasses for both parents and kids, cases, a granny strap or two, and maybe an inexpensive bottle of sun block just as an added bonus.
The value box represents a great way to move more product by offering your customers more than just a single pair of sunglasses per visit. Value boxes sell because of the perception of value they create. You might want to look into them for your own retail operation.
We are going to hear the weatherman say, "break out the sunglasses" with greater frequency as the tail-end of winter morphs into spring. That's good news to all of us who sell sunglasses. Are you ready for spring?
