The EAGGF, despite its name, is not in fact a separate fund, but forms part of the european Community's budget. It covers expenditure on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). It has two sections: - the Guarantee Section: this covers expenditure incurred under the Community's policy on agricultural markets and prices, i.e. aids for the production and processing of certain products, buying in and storage, and export refunds. Normally, this expenditure is financed 100% by the EAGGF; - the Guidance Section: this Section contributes to the financing of policy on agricultural structures and social aspects of agriculture, i.e. it grants direct aids for certain investment projects connected with the marketing and processing of agricultural products and with agricultural infrastructures and it reimburses some of the Member States' expenditure under Community legislation. The contribution by the EAGGF in general ranges between 25 and 65% of total costs, depending on the type of scheme and the region.
