It is published by the European Commission, Dissemination of Scientific and Technical Knowledge Unit. Euroabstracts contains articles on new publications, and an abstracts section covering reports, books, conference papers, etc.. An index to Euroabstracts is published annually. European Union research and technological development (RTD) is centred on a multi-annual Framework Programme. It is the European Commission, as the executive branch of the European Union (EU), which puts forward proposals for the Framework Programmes and, once the programme is agreed, ensures that it is effectively implemented. The current 1994-98 Framework Programme is divided into four 'Activities'. These are: 1. Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Programmes 2. Cooperation with Third Countries and International Organisations 3. Dissemination and Optimisation of Results 4.
