An Ophthalmologic Prescription from the Napoleonic Era. Presentation with comments of a prescription from Masson-Grandjean, surgeon and oculist, dated June 23, 1812, for a captain of the Imperial Guard suffering from ambliopia. The prescription essentially calls for applying leeches to the anus, drinking a bitter soup made of plants and wood-lice as well as an infusion of borage and euphrasia, inhalation of alcoholic vapours, application of a blister to the neck, and warm foot baths.
Eine ophtalmologische Verschreibung der napoleonischen Zeit. Besprechung einer Verschreibung von Masson-Grandjean, Augenchirurg in Paris, vom 23 Juni 1812, für einen Hauptmann der kaiserlichen Garde welcher an Amblyopic litt. Diese Verschreibung verordnet hauptsächlich : Aufsetzen von Blutsauger am After, Einnahme eines bitteren vegetabilischen Breies mit Zusatz von Asseln ; Aufguss von Boretsch und Augentrost ; Dämpfe eines spirituosen Liquors ; Zugpflaster ins Genick ; warme Fussbäder.
