Nevertheless, organizations have problems extracting value from these data.The goal of process mining is to use event data to extract process-related information,for example, to automatically discover a process model by observing events recorded bysome enterprise system. Process mining is a relative young research discipline that sitsbetween machine learning and data mining on the one hand and process modeling andanalysis on the other hand.Theideaofprocessminingistodiscover, monitor, andimproverealprocesses(i.e., notassumed processes) by extracting knowledge from event logs readily available in today’ssystems.
