The Commission of the European Communities needs an
ever-increasing amount of information in order to draw up,
assess and evaluate Community policies,
It is Eurostat's responsiPility to provide the Commission and
all parties involved in the development of the single market
with an effective system of official statistics to act as a sound
base for the decision-making process.
Eurostat disseminates this information to as wide an audi
ence as possible by publishing, in addition to publications,
statistical documents and CD-ROMs, a variety of computer
output products available online, on magnetic tape, dis
kette or printout.
Eurostat's publications are designed both to inform readers
of statistics through tables, selected commentaries and Illus
trations and to steer them towards more specialized works.
Statistical documents provide the specialist with the most
complete sets of data available together with all necessary
information on how to make use of them.
For ease of reference, Eurostat has now incorporated its
price catalogue for databanks in its 1992 catalogue.
