Everything in life can’t be done by a single man. Similarly this work was not achieved only
by me. There were many people who helped, supported, and loved me. It is my delightful
and happy duty to gure out them and to give them appreciation with my whole heart.
I’d like to at rst thank greatly my "Doktorvater" Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens von Wolfersdorf.
His kindness showing to me at the rst contact letter continued to the last. He helped me
land softly on life and work in Germany and gave me important chances to explore scientic
world at the Institute of Aerospace Thermodynamics (ITLR). Without his constant interest
with my work and insightful advice, I could not nish this dissertation. He was really like
a father to me.
I owe special thanks to Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Bernhard Weigand who allowed me to join
this wonderful research group and gave me excellent academic opportunities. The friendly
but intelligent working environment at ITLR might come from him.
A sincere gratitude goes to Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Franz Joos, director of Energy Tech-
nique at the Helmut-Schmidt Universitat, for his willingness to review this dissertation.
I thank all sta s from mechanical and electrical workshops of ITLR for their technical
supports. In addition, I have to appreciate to all colleagues at ITLR for successful collabo-
ration. My former oce-mate Dr.-Ing. Harald Kissel shall be specially memorized. During
my ve years’ stay at ITLR, he was always a nice guide to Germany. The life therein
would be dry without his humor, warmth, and kindness. Great thanks should be also sent
to Dipl.-Ing. Tobias Scheuermann for his productive and pleasant co-work.
The investigation of TEOS mixing using PLIF technique was performed in close coop-
eration with Dipl.-Chem. My Yen Luong and Prof. Dr. rer.-nat. Christof Schulz of the
Institute of Combustion and Gasdynamics (IVG) at the Duisburg-Essen Universitat. The
IVG provided the measurement equipment as applied to the ITLR test environment. The
experimental data was taken together in several measurement campaigns. This cooperative
research work was very constructive and the experience of Ms. Luong and Prof. Schulz
invaluable. I would like to thank them very much as they agreed kindly to use the common
experimental data for this dissertation.
