There are a number of candidates for this interdis-ciplinary science and research, f. e. microsystem engineering, na-notechnology, a.s.o. Another prime candidate are microwaves. Mi-crowaves exhibit a good free space propagation, they are coherent, have a moderate wavelength and are easy to handle since suppor-ting technology is ready available; even microminiaturized and highlyintegrated. The Ph. D. thesis of Hans Rudolf touches this interdisci-plinarity by combining information from radar engineering, communi-cations engineering, microwave measurement techniques and infor-mation processing. In a nearly unique manner it characterises therationalisation of information content in areas where numerous dataare fused.
