Undergraduate fees 1.1 Home / EU fees Full-time students The funding of University undergraduate courses comprises two elements of which the most significant is the income provided from Central Government funds allocated through the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The second element is in the form of a contribution to the costs of education from, or on behalf of, each full time undergraduate student. Full-time students
The funding of University undergraduate courses comprises two elements of which the most significant is

Progression to the BA top up year in year 3 carries the full fee of £3,290.
Students studying for an equivalent or lower qualification (ELQ Students)
Due to changes introduced by the Government on funding higher education, students who already possess
a qualification at the same level but in a different subject will be charged a fee of £5,000.
This does
not
apply to the following categories of students:
Students studying for a foundation degree;
Students progressing from HND;
Students studying architecture, landscape architecture, nursing and social work.
Part-time students
The fees for students undertaking part-time courses have been set in direct proportion to the full-time fee
and therefore will depend on whether the student is either a new entrant or continuing.
The rates which
apply for 2010/11 are provided below.
All undergraduate courses are modular for 2010/11.
Standard
modules are allocated 15 credits.
Some modules carry different credit weightings and fee bands where the
following charges apply:

Bursary scheme for undergraduate students
Years 1 and 2 – full time
Students who are eligible to claim the maximum means tested grant will receive a statutory bursary of
£384.
In addition to this entitlement, a new bursary scheme is available to new entrants which links
eligibility to residual family incomes as determined by LEA means-test assessment, and which takes into
account the proposed student support arrangements from 2006.

Students can also apply for the compact scheme which is designed to encourage the progression of students
into higher education from local colleges.
The eligible students will receive £300 for each year of the
course in addition to any entitlement to the University bursary.
Students studying foundation degree courses in Business Administration and Education Early years are not
eligible for this scheme.
Years 1 and 2 – part time
Students can apply to the Student Funding Service for a bursary.
Where certain conditions are met, a flat
rate bursary of £260 is available to students studying 60 or more credits in any one academic year.
Students studying for an equivalent or lower qualification (ELQ Students)
Students classified as studying for an equivalent or lower qualification are
not eligible
for the university
bursary scheme.
