pathways for stroke and myocardial infarction:
international experiences
!"!#$%"$
Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in developed countries.
Every year, an estimated 17 million people globally die of it, particularly of
myocardial infarctions and strokes.
Myocardial infarction and stroke are both requiring urgent therapy, and then
adapted rehabilitation and secondary prevention.
Worldwide, integrated care pathways have been set u p to improve myocardial
infarction and stroke management and to allow for better patient outcomes in terms
of survival and recovery.
Let’s discuss these major public health issues:
How are optimal care pathways within different health systems organized?
insure prompt access to the optimal care pathway for all eligibleHow to
patients?
What is the role of the patient?
Which quality measures can be defined?
What clinical impact can be expected from these care pathways?
