The author traces the history of the apothecaries of Rome over 5 centuries ; he covers, in particular, papal bulls and the « motu proprio », the guardianship of the profession of the apothecary, the relationship of this profession with the College of Medicine, and the most significant legal structures.

Der Verfasser gibt die Geschichte der römischen Apotheker während fünf Jährhunderte wieder. Im Einzelnen bespricht er die Bullen und « motu proprio », die Vormundschaft des Apothekerberufes, dessen Beziehungen zum medizinischen Collegium, und die wichtigsten gesetzlichen Bestimmungen.
