Die französischen ophtalmologischen Heilmittel im XIX. Jahrhundert.
Was die ophtalmologische Therapie anbelangt, so erscheint das XIX. Jahrhundert ganz besonders als eine Übergangsperiode zwischen dem hartnäckigen Empirismus des XVIII. Jahrunderts und den Anwendungen der Antibiotika und der Kortikoide im XX. Jahrhundert.
Der Autor berichtet nacheinander über folgende Präparate :
- einige andere Mittel als Collyria und Salben (Dusche, Blutegel, populäre Organotherapie, subkonjunktivale, Injektionen) ;
- geheime Mittel wie die vier Collyria von Dr. De La Chanterie ;
- eine Auswahl von in vier Formularen und Pharmakopöen veröflfentlichten Formeln (Wirkstoffe und Vehikel von 98 trockenen Collyria, flüssigen Collyria und Salben) ;
- drei Begriffe oder Gruppe neuer Wirkstoffe (Ende des Jahrhunderts) : Begrig des aktiven Vehikels, Begriff der Isotonie der Augentropfen, Entdeckund und Anwendung von Atropin und Pilokarpin.

Particularly in ophtalmic therapy, the 19th century appears to be a period of transition between the 18th century's dogged empiricism, and the 20th century's applications of antibiotics and corticoids.
Successively the author presents :
- several drugs others than collyria and ointments (shower, leech, popular opotherapy, hypoconjunctival injections) ;
- secret remedies, such as the 4 collyria of Dr De La Chanterie ;
- a choice of formulas published in 4 formularies and pharmacopoeias (active principles and excipients of 98 dry collyria, liquid collyria, and ointments) ;
- three notions or group of new active principles (end of century) : notion of active excipient, notion of collyria isotony, discovery and application of atropine and pilocarpine.
