An Unexpected Meeting : Flaubert and Dorvault.
For the preparation of his novel Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert consulted the 3rd edition (1850) of the Officine of Dorvault. From the varied notes that he took concerning this work, the only information which was useful to him, it seems, was the copy of the 1st article of the law of the 19th of « Ventôse, Year XI », on the organization of medicine.

Von den verschiedenen Notizen welche er dabei aufzeichnete scheint letzterends nur die Abschrift des 1. Artikels des Gesetzes vom 19. Ventôse, Jahr XI der Republik, betreffs Organisation der Medizin, von Ihm benutzt geworden zu sein.

An Unexpected Meeting : Flaubert and Dorvault.
