of Bishop Horsley's Ser-volume
appears by the ofmons and form;
compilationto have been, like them,
the Pulpit.originally delivered from
the Editor's handsIt came into
unconnected sheets, andin loose and
exami-these were not arranged and

ned by him till long after the publi-
cation of the two first volumes of
Sermons. After he had examined
them, he found them to contain an
unfinished whichEssay, evidently
had never been prepared by the
Author for the press. He therefore
laid it aside. But having shewn it,
during his stay in London in the
month last,ofMay to some literary
friends, he was strongly advised to
publish it; for though confessedly
an incomplete work, yet it was
deemed worthy of publication, as
displaying the Bishop's thoughts on
an important subject.
