After he had examined them, he found them to contain an unfinished whichEssay, evidently had never been prepared by the Author for the press. He therefore laid it aside. But having shewn it, during his stay in London in the month last,ofMay to some literary friends, he was strongly advised to publish it; for though confessedly an incomplete work, yet it was deemed worthy of publication, as displaying the Bishop's thoughts on an important subject.
