Program:

Presentation of New P.E. Certificates by Philip Lim &

Riverfront Development Presented by John Conroy

In 2000, the Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC) was established as a non-profit entity designed to

create a public / private partnership focused on development of the Memphis Riverfront. RDC has a

management contract with the City of Memphis to operate its riverfront parks and open spaces, which

include Mud Island River Park and 10 other downtown parks, construct publicly-funded capital projects

within the riverfront area and act as an agent for the City in facilitating private development on available

public land. Completed projects include Cobblestone Walkway, Martyrs Park, Riverside Drive, Bluff

Stairs, and Riverwalk Extension. John Conroy, Vice President of RDC, will present the significance and

engineering design of the newest RDC project, Beale Street Landing.

Dr. Bevalee B. Pray will:

Examine what happens when ethical principles conflict.

the profit and non-profit, religious, education and governmental sectors of the Mid South.

She is

nominated to the Shelby County Tennessee Ethics Commission.

Morning and afternoon sessions will be presented on Tuesday, November 11

th

.

Registration for

the morning session will begin at 8:00 am.

The program will begin at 9:00 and will conclude at

11:15.

Lunch will be provided between 11:15 and 12:45 for both sessions.

Registration for the

afternoon session will begin at 11:30.

The afternoon session will begin at 12:45.

Ethical

will conclude at 3:00 pm.

The registration fee is $100 per person.

Discounts are available.

Pre-registering employees of

member firms of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee will receive a

reduced registration of $85 per person.

Pre-registering members of TSPE/NSPE will receive a

reduced registration of $75 per person.

Pre-registration deadline is Thursday, November 6.

No

discounts are available after November 6.

Pre- registration is strongly encouraged.

Class size is

limited to 60.

John Conroy Biography:

-

A registered professional engineer in the states of Tennessee and Mississippi

-

Served 24 years in the Civil Engineer Corps of the United States Navy,

retiring with the rank of Commander in 1988

-

In 1988, he was appointed as the City of Memphis Deputy City Engineer for

Building Design and Construction, serving in that capacity for seven years.

-

In 1996, he was appointed as City Engineer for the City of Memphis,

retaining his previous responsibilities, while adding responsibility for the

management of the design and construction of roads, drainage, and sewers,

traffic engineering, and land development.

-

He retired from the City of Memphis in 2002 and is currently the Vice

President for Project Development for the Riverfront Development

Corporation
