Description
This is my life / gathered in dust /. . . You, my meaningless poems : a scatter of publications, of themes, of styles, Kateb Yacine 's poems (only a few are gathered in the Stary Polygon most of them being published in various magazines) reveal, when set in full view, a very deep, poetical meaning : an imaginary world full of rich sensitiveness, of mythical and symbolical complexity ; attitudes of alienated subjectivity in quest of a life that would not have been split apart, between the three poles of the Ancestor, Nedjma and the fight ; a range of most varied styles, from the legendary tale to the occasional political verse, as with Maiakowski. Thus, precisely because of their unachieved, fragmentary character, they constitute not only a production in the margia of his greater works, but also a field of invention and experimentation, a specific setting of the workmanship of Kateb Yacine who stirs a new meaning of poetical writings in his novels and his plays of the same period (1948-1966).
