1.1. PURPOSE OF DOCUMENT
This report has been produced by Data Sciences as part of the MICA (Met.
Improvements for Controller Aids) project of the European Commission IVth
Framework Transport R&D programme, on behalf of DG VII. The overall objective
of the MICA project is to determine the importance of accurate weather forecasting in
developing and maintaining a four-dimensional model of a flight, in particular
focusing on the use of computer-based controller assistance tools in operational Air
Traffic Control (ATC). The project aims to determine whether improvements in the
quality of meteorological forecasts can provide true operational benefits to the
controllers.
This report is the final report for publication (Milestone 11) from work package 5 of
the MICA project. Thist is a collation of the principal deliverables produced and
published separately during the project.
