VASSE et al. SUMMARY The 5-ton ladle induction furnace located at IRSID in MAIZIERES LES METZ is presented in this report. The ladle casing, made of austenitic stainless steel, is fragmented to limit overheating due to FOUCAULT'* currents. It is placed in a furnace of identical structure to crucible induction furnace.
