As a complement to the study on the spread of shiftwork in industry, the
Foundation commissioned a similar research onk in the services
sector.
This research was carried out in two stages:
1) A survey was carried out in each of the Member States of the
Community by a specialized institute which drew up a report
on the situation in the country concerned.
2) In order to give the research a European dimension, a comparative
study was carried out based on the results collected at national
level. This took the form of a consolidated report and was drawn
up by Mr. Y. Dricot, under the guidance of Mr. J-J Danis, a
project manager at the Foundation.
The nine national reports as well as the consolidated report were evaluated
by the social partners and by government representatives at a seminar held
in Dublin on 4 and 5 September 1980.
Following the comments made during the seminar by the representatives of the
employers and the governments, a number of amendments were made to the
consolidated report. These changes were approved by the Reading Committee
which reviewed the entire text.
This volume contains the text of the consolidated report as amended, together
with the comments made by the trade unions, the employers and the governments
at the conclusion of the seminar. EVALUATION REPORTS
