Ein Grabmal-Flachrelief mit Darstellung der heiligen Kosmas und Damian. Das Münster von Saint-Omer (département Pas-de-Calais) besitzt ein Grabmal-Flachrelief, aus polychromem Stein, vom Ende des 15 .Jts, mit Darstellung der heiligen Kosmas und Damian. Stifter davon war ein Chorherr ; doch die Inschrift, zum Teil nur lesbar, lässt vermuten dass er in der Heilkunst bewandert war : so die Anwesenheit, zwar ziemlich selten in der Grabmalplastik, der zwei Schutzheiligen der Ärzte und Apotheker.
A Funerary Bas-Relief with Figures of Saints Cosmos and Damian. The cathedral of Saint-Omer (in the Department of Pas-de-Calais) possesses a funerary bas-relief in polychromed stone from the end of the 15th century, with figures of the saints Cosmas and Damian. The donor was a Canon ; however, the inscription, which is only partly readable, permits one to think that he was an expert in the art of giving treatment ; thus, the presence, rather rare in funerary sculpture, of the two patron saints of medicine and pharmacy.

Abstract

A Funerary Bas-Relief with Figures of Saints Cosmos and Damian. The cathedral of Saint-Omer (in the Department of Pas-de-

Calais) possesses a funerary bas-relief in polychromed stone from the end of the 15th century, with figures of the saints Cosmas

and Damian. The donor was a Canon ; however, the inscription, which is only partly readable, permits one to think that he was an

expert in the art of giving treatment ; thus, the presence, rather rare in funerary sculpture, of the two patron saints of medicine

and pharmacy.
