Elementary School Program East Harlem Tutorial’s Elementary School Program is a comprehensive after school education program designed to equip elementary school students (aged 5-11) with the knowledge, skills, and tools to:  Develop strong academic competencies in literacy, math, and writing  Build positive foundations for social development  Build confidence and cultural awareness through artistic expression  Perform at grade level and be better prepared for advancement Elementary School Program What is the East Harlem Tutorial Program? The East Harlem Tutorial Program, or EHTP for short, is a free after school program run by an exceptional staff and nearly 200 volunteers. We offer East Harlem youth comprehensive academic and social enhancing activities, including reading, math, science, one-to-one tutoring, and arts and culture courses. EHTP's programs take place during both the school calendar year and summer. In addition to youth-based programs, EHTP also offers a variety of family services, including ESL (English as a second language)/Family Literacy classes and social counseling. FREE! Through the generosity of numerous individuals, foundations, and corporations we
are able to offer programming free of charge.
Admissions
Who We Accept
This program is open to any K-5 grade students who live, attend school, or have a
parent working in the East Harlem zip codes 10029 and 10035.
How to Apply
Fill out an application.
Process for New Applicants
As spots in the program are frequently full, the admissions process for new participants is
done on a rolling process. New applications are date-stamped and processed in the
order they are received – No exceptions. As spots become available families will be
contacted in the order applications were received.
Process for Returning Applicants
Intake and Assessment meetings are required of all returning participants. Before the
program starts, returning participants will receive a letter informing them that they need
to schedule these meetings. Once Intake and Assessment are complete participants can
start programming the following program day.

East Harlem Tutorial’s Middle School Program is a part of the University Program. It is a
comprehensive after school education program designed to equip middle school students
(aged 12-15) with the knowledge, skills, and tools to:
Excel in middle school
Develop socially and academically
Build community awareness and teamwork
Perform at grade level and get accepted into a high school of their choice
