I n this book, we’re going to talk about how to earn, budget, save, and invest money. So, let’s get right to it!

Two little kids are selling lemonade at a homemade lemonade stand on a sunny day with a price sign.

HOW TO EARN MONEY

D epending on your age, you might get an allowance from your parents or you might have a part-time job as you’re going to school. If you get an allowance, that means your parents are earning money and they are giving you part of the income they make so you can budget for things that you would like to buy.

I f you have your own job or do odd jobs to make money, then you are earning your own income. If you’re good at writing, photography, programming, tutoring, or graphics, with your parents’ help you can get freelance work. Maybe you’d rather babysit or do yard work. Anytime you put in time and effort doing something and you get money in return, you’re earning income.
