The magic moment
4
I’m Emily Shuckburgh, Head of the Open Oceans research group at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). It’s chilly here on Antarctica’s Southern Ocean, but the science is exciting!
My amazing magic moment happened back in the year 2000. It was my first time as a member of a science team in the Arctic. We were releasing science research balloons into the atmosphere. As the balloons rose, they dazzled in the sunlight, and the wispy clouds around them shimmered with all the colours of the rainbow above the snowy landscape. It was spectacular.
