In the Middle Ages, the nobility lived grand, comfortable lives, and the lords and ladies held much power.







The lands of the nobles were obtained through a promise they made to the king of their country. The king promised to provide land, called fiefs, to the nobles and in return the nobles swore their allegiance to the king and would promise to send the king men to fight as soldiers in times of war.
