Foreword
Football, this crazy and reckless round thing that constanty amazes us with choices it makes. Like destiny; when it chooses someone, it makes no mistakes and takes noguesses: it just points at that person and says "that's the one". The "one" is very often the player has had humble beginnings; the one who was raised among the masses in a narrow ally or a small village; the one with the swollen feet from running after his beloved football; the one who crossed the earth walking or maybe squeezed between the dozens inside a train carriage just to meet his beloved at the end of his journey.
Itpicks those who willplay with it, maneuver it, then it plays coy and goes away, but it always comes back to his feet.
There is a sacred bond between humans and that inflated ball; a thrilling connection between it and the player. That connection has become a normal occurrence in our daily lives.

Football is like a magical orb; it takes those most devoted to it on an uncertain path to greatness. If this object and the beautiful game it offers fall in love with someone, hispath is clear to glory. Mysteriously, it always seems to like choosing the poor.
Why does football choose the poor? Why do they represent the majority of its stars? Pelé of Brazil and Maradona of the Argentina, two of the greatest players to ever grace the game, Cristiano Ronaldo and his nemesis Messi, the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah: all came from poor families and humble beginnings.
These renowned athletes are global superstars; they are known to everyone, from loyal fans of the game to the most casual observers. Their goals and masterful skills with football are inscribed in our collective memories. Nowadays, football fanatics can watch and re-live these stars' dazzling feats of greatness any time on YouTube.
The secret of the relationship between the poor and the football lies under the asphalt of the streets; it is an almost devilish touch that

only happens to those who touch that asphalt with their bare feet. Maybe their bare feet don't own a pair of shoes, or they have taken them off to avoid damagingand conse them quentlyavoid getting rebuked by their parents, whose money is scarce.
Football is the bride that chooses its groom. Even though football is a multibillion dollar business now, with lavish investments being a regular feature of the highest echelons of the game, that leather ball is the onlyone who has the right to give the stamp of skill to those who deserve it.
Street football has no place for the rich; this is an unwritten constitution that every dweller of poor villages and slums know. This is the world of theplayers whoplaytheir first matches and enjoy an exciting game full of skills before they learn how to write. They are the sharp witted street players.
There is no better judge in football than the ball itself; it knows who is reallyin love with it, and who likes to show off. Street players don't play ball just for fun, they do it out of sheer
