Description

Multinational Companies (MNCs) increasingly play an important role in transferring knowledge worldwide. For MNCs, the topic of knowledge transfer has been studied in different ways. While economists have mainly studied the effects of knowledge transfer on firms' performance, management scholars have rather shed light on the processes of transferring knowledge as well as more strategic aspects for MNCs. The objective of this book is to create bridges between economic sciences and management sciences, by highlighting the contributions and methodologies related to each of these disciplines.

INTRODUCTION
Lamia Ben Hamida and Christophe Lejeune
Multinational Companies (MNCs) increasingly play an important role in international exchanges and world domestic product (UNCTAD, 2010). They are more and more considered as the main engine for knowledge transfers between countries. For MNCs, the topic of knowledge transfer has been studied in different ways, and from different disciplinary perspectives. While economists have mainly studied the effects of knowledge transfer on firms’ perfor-mance, management scholars have rather shed light on the processes of transferring knowledge as well as more strategic aspects for MNCs.
Questions concerning knowledge transfer in MNCs are associated with those in the domain of international work and in the context of advanced globalization. (UNCATD, 2012; El Mouhoub, 2013; Las-sudrie-Duchêne, 1982). The subjects broached primarily concern economic questions (Moati and El Mouhoub, 2005; Bouba-Olga, 2006). In knowing this, the questions at stake in knowledge transfer clearly touch the exchange and sharing of knowledge transfer in MNCS. (Cantwell and Piscitello, 2000; Dunning and Lundan., 2008; Lee, 2010), together with strategic aspects of these companies. The importance and the significance of cultural, organizational, and management aspects in the process and the effects of knowledge transfer should be taken into account (Hofstede, 1980; Minbaeva, 2007; Qin et al, 2011; Vaara et al., 2012; Van Wijk et al., 2008; Guénette et al. 2011).
The objective of this book is to create bridges between economic sciences and management sciences, by highlighting the contribu-tions and methodologies related to each of these disciplines. Thus, the book intend to analyze the determinants and the effects of knowledge transfer within multinational companies, as well as to stimulate debates around organizational, cultural, management and
