Your Big Day is Approaching…..
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. And with all your friends and family looking on, it’s sure to be the most attended. It’s also going to be the most documented, as everyone there will take lots of photographs. All of this in an effort to capture every moment of what will be remembered as the happiest day of your life.
This is why you will invest lots of your time and energy in to making your big day perfect. First, you’ll find the perfect venue, and then it’s on to finding the right decorations, flowers, stationary, entertainment, food and wedding cake. Most importantly of all, you’ll make sure you’ve found the perfect dress. You’ll want everything to be extra special, and that desire extends to yourself, too; as the centrepiece of the day, you’ll want to look your very best.
It’s so important to you that you look fantastic that it’s easy to place a lot of pressure on yourself. At this point you have two choices. Your first choice is to let the pressure overwhelm you. Feeling a sense of desperation, many brides-to-be succumb to drastic measures such as crash diets and extreme exercise regimes. Measures that promise to help you look spectacular on your big day, but instead rob you of your health and vitality while depriving you of your beauty.
But you also have a second choice: to harness that pressure and use its power to get into fantastic shape. To use the fact that you’re heading towards one of the most monumental days of your life to create a ton of motivation to transform your body. And, best of all, to do it in a way that’s healthy and designed to reap long-term benefits that will last way beyond your big day.
Helping you take advantage of this second choice is the goal of Countdown to the Gown . This book is here to provide you with everything you need to lose weight, look great, and feel your most confident on your big day. By following the advice in this book you will:
- Burn body fat and lose weight
- Tone your muscles and look leaner
- Achieve beautiful and healthy skin, nails, and hair
Increase your energy levels and feel more vibrant
- Improve your overall health and well-being
The great news is that this doesn’t have to be complicated, difficult, or stressful to achieve, and can be done without putting your health and well-being at risk. You just have to focus on three simple things, which I call the fundamentals of weight loss.

Mindset
Your mindset is the factor that’s most overlooked and underutilised, but it also makes the most difference. Your mindset is how you think, and what’s going on inside your head affects your ability to lose weight. Your mindset is the source of your power; it’s how you take the pressure you feel in preparing for your wedding and use it for your benefit. It determines how you’re able to motivate yourself, and, more importantly, how you keep yourself motivated. Your mindset is so powerful and influential that even the smallest changes will create a huge difference in your results
Diet
Firstly, I’m going to help you make the shift from seeing a diet as something you go on to something you take control of. From seeing a diet as a set of rules and restrictions on what you can eat to seeing a diet for what it is, which is what you regularly eat. You’ll learn how the nutrients in your food affect your body and come together to get you into that dress. By taking control of your diet, you grant yourself the freedom to not have to give up any food in your countdown to the gown.
Exercise
As you take control of your diet, regular exercise helps you reach your weight-loss goals faster. This section shows you the most effective exercises for transforming your body in time for your big day . By following the 12-week Countdown to the Gown programme, you’ll learn the best exercises for burning fat, increasing your muscle tone, and boosting your energy levels. Instead of excessive amounts of exercise, the programme gives you a step-by-step guide to exercising in an efficient way that burns fat during and between sessions.
It’s time to begin your countdown to the gown!
How to Get the Most from this Book
Before you dive in and get started, I’d like to offer some simple advice on how to get the most from this book.
There’s a lot of information in this book and you certainly can’t be expected to remember all of it. Attempting to remember everything you learn would be an overwhelming experience and is likely to lead to you remembering very little. The best thing to do is to take a few things that really stand out to you and concentrate on them. The handful of things that you choose to carry out will make all the difference to your results.
In addition, many of the sections in this book have short exercises for you to complete. I encourage you to complete these exercises as they require you to stop, think and learn more about yourself.
Mindset
The first fundamental of weight loss is your mindset , which is how you think and how your thoughts affect your actions.
Your mindset is so important because it has a strong influence on everything else . If you get your mindset right everything else falls into place, and reaching your weight loss goals becomes simpler. Think of your mindset as being like the foundation of a house: you can have the strongest walls and the sturdiest roof but, without a strong foundation, the house still has vulnerabilities. In the same way, without the right mindset, your efforts to lose weight are on shaky ground.
With the right mindset, the remaining fundamentals are easier to put into place. Eating well and maintaining a healthy diet is simpler with when you cultivate the right mindset first. Exercising regularly also becomes more straightforward with the aid of a helpful mindset.
Feeling Confident
Your confidence has a strong impact on your chances of success. The higher your level of confidence, the more you believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. In addition, the more confidence you have, the greater your ability to withstand setbacks. Setbacks are inevitable and your ability to handle them can be the difference between success and failure. But facing them with confidence allows you to see them for exactly what they are and not as a failure.
Contrary to popular belief, confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something that you acquire and develop . And this can be done through adopting the right mindset.
Using your Past Achievements to Create Confidence
Drawing on your past accomplishments is an effective, yet under-utilised, way of boosting your confidence. It never hurts to remind yourself what you’re capable of. There was a time when it may have seemed that accomplishing many of the things you’ve achieved didn’t look likely, but yet here you are, and you pulled it off! It’ll be exactly the same with your weight-loss goals: you will accomplish them, too.
Success breeds confidence, but confidence also breeds success; it’s a chicken and egg scenario. Once you’re successful, your confidence increases, but you also need to feel confident to achieve success. Cultivating the right mindset by drawing on your past successes will give you the confidence to achieve initial success. Then you’ll start to gather momentum, which gives you greater confidence and which propels you to greater success.
Exercise - List three things that you’ve achieved up to now that you’re proud of:
• Consider each of the accomplishments in turn.
• Cast your mind back to when you were working towards that achievement Do you remember how difficult it was at times? Did you feel like giving up?
• Now, remember how it felt when you finally achieved it and the accompanying feeling of pride and accomplishment.
If you could accomplish those things, then I have no doubt that you can look fantastic for your wedding. You already have it in you to achieve great things and reminding yourself that you do is a great way to create the confidence you need to achieve something else.
Setting Goals
If you want to guarantee you look your very best on your big day, then deciding that you’re going to ‘lose some weight’ just isn’t enough. To truly ensure that it happens, you need to set a goal.
The first reason is that setting a goal focuses your mind and energy . Initially, by creating clarity on what you want, and then figuring out what you have to do to achieve it. Without a goal, your mind has nothing to focus on and will tend to settle for whatever’s easiest and most convenient. But, in many cases, what’s convenient doesn’t aid your aspiration to look great in your wedding gown. For instance, it’s often way more convenient to stay in bed instead of waking up a little earlier to exercise. And it’s often more convenient to buy something unhealthy and pre-prepared, rather than preparing something
